Along with their application and as usual, students are required to submit a preliminary thesis project endorsed by one of the professors of the program, which may be co-directed by up to two other doctors who meet at least the usual requirements established by the UDC. Due to the changes introduced by Royal Decree 576/2023, at least one of the people who co-direct the thesis must meet the new criteria to be a supervisor (be in possession of a six-year term in the case of university professors who are in a position to apply for it or equivalent research experience for the rest of the doctors).
